Shorefire Recording Studios can trace it's beginnings back as GT Studios, starting out as a home studio in the basement of father and son team George and Tom Elliott around 1971' or 1972' with an old RCA console and an Ampex MM1000 2" 16 track. They outgrew the basement and in 1978 moved to the current location on Broadway where the studio has been ever since.

They kept the GT moniker until Garry Tallent of the E Street Band came on board in the mid 1980's and that's when they decided to change the name to Shorefire. Garry was a partner for a number of years producing many national and local acts, I'm not really sure of Garry's time line at the studio but at some point he left and the Elliott's ran things until 1995 when I took over.

I have been there since 1995 outfitting the studio with the some of the most amazing vintage gear ever made with the desire to make the best recordings possible, "the best of the old with a blend of the new" is what I like to say. I like to think that I have achieved that goal but I'm always striving to make it better.

Having always been a fan of 60's and 70's "Brit Rock"  I used Olympic Studios in London, England (where all of the great bands of that era recorded) as the role model for the current incarnation of Shorefire.

I never tried to copy it, but use the same principles and philosophies such as having a great sounding room where a group could all play at the same time in the same space yet have enough isolation to capture each instrument properly. Quality microphones, consoles, mic-pre's, eq's, compressors, outboard, backline etc., certainly play a pivotal role in shaping the sound but I tell all of my clients that ultimately it's about how comfortable you are so you can give the best performance possible and hopefully that will come across in the finished product....... the song.

There's a reason why Shorefire has been in business for over thirty years, if you have never been to the studio please give me a call so I can show you around and if you have already been here hopefully I will see you again in the near future.

 Sincerely,

 Joseph DeMaio, Owner
